This whole thing is just an elaborate ruse for you to be naked in public. —my friend Lindsey
Hello from Pennsylvania and hello from book four!!!!
My newest poetry collection, How About Now, is out this November, and I’m thrilled to finally share the cover with you. This book is about the quiet revolutions of midlife—watching kids grow older, navigating the body, and figuring out who we are (again). It’s full of love, playfulness, hope, and the occasional existential crisis. At its heart, it’s a reminder that life is happening now and worth paying attention to.
And yes, that’s me on the cover.* I can’t wait for you to read it.
If you have followed me or any other authors during book pre-season, this will be old news, but just a reminder that pre-orders are the #1 way to support writers you love. It paves the way for book tours and can open (and shut) doors. I’m so grateful for your love and support over the years. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You can pre-order How About Now at your local bookstore, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and wherever else books are sold. You can also grab a signed copy here.
*A note on cover! This summer, Canadian photographer Claire Dam asked if she could come to my house and photograph me. We’d never met, but I’d admired her work online and sure / why not / how about now? This image is taken in the heat of summer on film by a woman with a vision. It has been further edited and designed into a cover by the wonderful Joanne O’Neill.
Another one from that day….
Over the next nine months, I’ll be sharing excerpts and poems from this book to give you an idea of where it’s going. Like my other full length collections, How About Now is deeply personal. I hope it finds you at just the right time. More soon.
With love,
Kate
PS: March’s newsletter will be a longform Q&A featuring questions taken from an AMA (ask me anything) on Instagram on February 25th. If you want to submit a question but don’t have an Instagram account, I’m going to leave the comment section of this post open to use instead. See you in March <3
If we can get a Kate Baer book and TS music in 2025, we might just make it.
Fantastic cover and I can’t wait to read it!
