Now that I’ve dated myself by titling a newsletter (fancy word for blog) with song lyrics like it’s an AIM away message, let’s get into it.
Seattle, I love you.
Thank you to everyone who made this night so incredibly beautiful.* From the 6th grade student reading her original poetry, to musician Julia Massey singing an original song based on And Yet, to all the incredible women I met on stage and in line. It will absolutely be a core memory for me. I will never forget the electric crowd, autographing your boobs, or laughing like a hyena about Taco Bell and the weird dude I met on the pier who thought I was his cousin with Lyme’s Disease.
I genuinely mean it when I say that event will propel me through the rest of this month. Thank you Seattle Arts and Lecture! WOW.
Upcoming events are as follows:
4/23/23 Darien, CT Tickets
5/10/23 Boston, MA SAVE THE DATE**
5/11/23 Charlottesville, VA SOLD OUT
A few more things to share this month…
1) This Mother Magazine feature which came out on 3/9. Special thanks to Katie Hintz-Zambrano for writing it with care and of course to the incredible Jillian Guyette for the photos. I don’t normally share my kids online, but made an exception for this wonderful behind-the-scenes editorial feature.
2) An update on merch: instead of restocking this spring, we’ll be retiring the classic WKOW shirt and the cozy AND YET shirt to make way for new inventory items. So, if you've been wanting one of these things, this is the last chance! Once they're gone, they're gone!
3) Finally…I don’t just talk about myself on stage, I also chat with other authors! Tonight you can join Rebecca Serle and I at the Midtown Scholar to discuss her book One Italian Summer in person or online. And on April 13, you can join me and my friend Maggie Smith in Washington DC to discuss her upcoming memoir You Could Make This Place Beautiful.
Thank you for being here. I hope to see you, in one way or another, soon.
xo

**Coming to WBUR CitySpace Events (wbur.org) Redefining Motherhood for the 21st Century. Wednesday, May 10, @ 6:30 pm. Mothers have always shouldered the bulk of childrearing, but the pandemic shifted those responsibilities into high gear -- and revealed just how essential that unpaid care is to American society. New books reveal the invisible costs of care-giving, the science of motherhood (divorcing myth from reality) and how the world of mommy-influencers has turned our “ideal” motherhood into a linen-clad billion dollar industry. Join authors Angela Garbes, Chelsea Conaboy and Sara Petersen, and New York Times best-selling poet Kate Baer, who will share their perspectives on the changing role of mothers in the modern world.
