TO DO
May 2025 Newsletter
Things that are hot right now: long walks, thunderstorms, soft arms, repeating a song over and over so you can feel it in a very specific way and go to very specific places until you absolutely cannot ever listen to it again.
But of course, make your own list.
Other things I’ve checked off recently…
1. Trying a sound bath. This weekend some friends and I went to our first one. It was so relaxing, we all dozed off for a least a few minutes. My personal Everest was not laughing when I heard my friend Mo’s tiny kitten snore, but other than those five minutes trying not to lose it and ruin everyone’s vibe, I was delighted to find my body and mind relaxing into a deep meditative state.
2. Going to a broadway rave. Different from a piano bar (I love Marie’s Crisis), it’s a club, but instead of pop music, you’re dancing and singing to Hamilton and Wicked. There was a lot to see, so many funny moments and audience members getting on the stage to reenact their high school musical routines. It was a great night.
3. Creating a fine art print of The Bridesmaid’s Speech. I’ve wanted to create a fine art print alongside an artist for years. Thank you to artist Lottie Caiella for her work creating this beautiful piece. Original poem included in How About Now (11/7). Last week we sold out, but we decided to restock another 100 prints at least one more time. You can order it here.
4. Getting out of the house. I’m an introvert who can default to excess hibernation and forget I love to get out of the house. And by that I mean everything from dancing until 2am to sitting out in someone’s driveway with a plate of nachos. Some of my favorite memories in the recent past are the simple things. Casual poker games on my friend Carmen’s deck or staying out after an event to people watch.
This Saturday after the rave, we ended up staying at the venue (basically a giant house with multiple floors and bars) and people watched (College graduates! Meet cutes! Wedding parties!). There was so much to see. At the very end, we walked across the street to a chicken joint to decompress repeat characters (The guy with the neck brace? The girls having a big moment in the bathroom? Athletic socks with heels???)
PS: I loved this article from over the weekend on this exact topic.

5. Getting a vibe check on newsletters. This one in particular. Anything you want to see here? Leave a comment and let me know. I’m still figuring it out while processing my own baggage (content immediacy, blogging PTSD, keeping myself marked safe from rage bait, needing to touch grass, etc). Like many of us, I’ve been on the Internet in a variety of ways over the years, and while all of those spaces continue to change, we do too. ILY.
Thank you so much for reading! A special thank you to those who purchased a Magic & Brain tee for The National Bailout fundraiser. With your help, we raised over $8,000 dollars. See you again, soon! xo

Newsletter vibe check response: So thankful for this. I'm 3-months social media sober and honestly what I miss most are Instagram updates from my favorite writers, you included. Cheers to the party moms who love to love, people watch, and build community. So thank you for this and fingers crossed for more of it.
After I did my first sound bath last year, my sister joked that my new personality was "woman does sound bath one time and now won't shut up about it". Most relaxed I've been in a decade straight up, been chasing it since. Glad you had a good one!
